About

I've been running a lot lately. I never thought I'd get into the habit of running, since it's the more boring part of my usual gym routine. After I cancelled my gym membership, however, I was forced to try outdoor running. I easily got tired on my first few attempts, but after my third jog, I wanted to do it again. I'm fairly new at this (and quite late for the whole marathon hype) - I don't measure my speed/distance yet (I mostly rely on how many times I've ran around the UP oval), much less, joined a marathon (not even a 3k run).

I put up this blog at about the same time I've started running so I'll be able to track my progress in it (and in other physical activities I might involve myself in), and see how far I can go. But primarily, I set up this new blog to track how I fare in this (cliche as it may sound) figurative race we all run in - life. At the start of the year, during church service, I heard Hebrews 12:1-3 which I committed to memory, and was struck by this line: "and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Recently, I came across 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 which also establishes an analogy between life and a race: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."

After reading the verses, I realized that living should be intentional. You can't be on earth and merely exist, go through the motions, and grab the opportunities life throws at you. Each step/action you take must bring you closer, no matter how small it is, to your goal. With the premise that we are all here for a specific purpose (or for several specific purposes), our goal should be to seek and actualize God's purpose/s for us. And with this new blog, armed with the skills and circumstances God has entrusted me, I would chronicle my attempts to find and fulfill His purpose/s in my life.
